How to find us!

Artificial insemination

Procedures that induce a pregnancy without sexual intercourse are colloquially referred to as artificial insemination. They serve as treatment methods if the desire to have a child cannot be satisfied in the usual way. The process is also referred to as assisted reproduction. If after one year of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse no pregnancy has occurred for a couple, despite the woman being under 35 years old, one can then assume that there is a case of infertility. In our fertility clinics, we look for the causes and then recommend the appropriate procedure to fulfil the desire to have a baby of one's own. The treatment costs are often covered by one's health insurance, subject to certain conditions.

Treatment methods of artificial insemination:

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI): In this process, sperm from the male are introduced into the woman's uterus using a medical procedure.

In-vitro fertilisation (IVF): In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) involves the fertilisation of female eggs in the laboratory using the man's semen.

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI): Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is used when the male sperm quality is so severely impaired that the egg cannot be fertilised by the semen independently.  In this process, individual sperm are drawn up into a hollow needle and injected directly into the eggs (obtained by performing a follicular puncture on the woman).

IMSI and P-ICSI: In the IMSI method, a high-performance microscope is used. As a result, magnification of the sperm is about 15 times greater, and only optimal sperm are selected. In P-ICSI, sperm are selected according to their degree of maturity, which can be tested in a hyaluronan binding assay.

TESE/MESA sperm extraction: Sometimes there are no, or hardly any, healthy sperm in the man's ejaculate. Pregnancy is then usually impossible by natural means. But if there are still sperm capable of fertilisation in the man's epididymides or testes, these can be extracted by means of a surgical procedure. To do this, we use microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA) or testicular sperm aspiration (TESE).
